Spurrier's deal gets a new incentive clause

From this State article, it sheds the light on a new incentive that has been put on top of USC Football Coach Steve Spurrier's contract. This one goes from the field to the classroom. Spurrier got a nice holiday bonus when he lead the gamecocks to the Outback bowl - 100k. Now if the gamecock football team can shine not only on the field but in the class room Spurrier & Co can collect --

"an additional $50,000 in any year when his team posts a multiyear APR between 925-934. He would receive $75,000 for an APR between 935-949, and $100,000 if the score exceeds 950. APR awards two points for each scholarship athlete — one each for eligibility and retention. Teams that score below 925 on the scale are subject to penalties such as scholarship losses. In addition, Spurrier will receive $50,000 to distribute among his staff after any year in which his team posts an APR or 925 or higher."

In Spurrier’s first four seasons, USC had APR scores of 911, 913, 921 and 929.
It is called a academic clause. To let more about what a APR is and why it matters or how to do the math go HERE.

Which is more important if you had to choose a APR above 950 or a SEC Championship?
