Beamer tees it up at Augusta and finishes par for his round

It has been reported that Gamecock Coach Shane Beamer played Augusta National this past weekend and shot par for his round! Lucky bastard! Not for his score but he got to play Augusta.

The catch is he only played one hole - the difficult par-4 10th - then lighting came in and the round was stopped before they could continue. Great job Shane now get back to work!

What happened John

Well John Daly is up to his old antics. I never thought I would read the headline " To Drunk for Hooters." What happened to John Daly? I guess you can take the boy out of Arkansas but you can't take the Arkansas out of the boy, or something like that.

The Drinking Daly fact of the day: Daly once claimed that he drank a fifth of Jack Daniel's every day during the year he was 23 years of age.

The Daly quote: "I believe nicotine plus caffeine equals protein."

Golf Talk....

Prediction - Wie will make the cut this week....and finish in the Top 50.

Anyone who follows or plays Golf knows the name Michelle Wie. She was the teenage amateur who stole many headlines and now is a teenage ladies golf pro closing in on her first professional victory. Remember she turned heads when she won the U.S. Women's Amateur Public Links at age 13. Fast forward to present day, she has finished a combined five shots out of the lead in three LPGA majors this year, lipping out a 10-foot birdie putt on the final hole at the Kraft Nabisco Championship to miss out on a playoff. And the last time Wie played against the men, she made the cut on the Asian Tour, finishing 12 shots off the lead in the SK Telecom Open.

Wie's next shot starts Thursday at the John Deere Classic, when she tees it up on the PGA Tour for the fifth time, hoping to become the first woman since Babe Zaharias in 1945 to make the cut.

Wie looked as though she belonged at last year's John Deere, when she was one shot better than the cut line with momentum on her side. Then came a double bogey on her 15th hole with two shots into a bunker and three putts from 20 feet. Her next shot sailed far right of the green, smacking off a cart path. And after missing the cut by two shots, it was time to go home to Hawaii.

The tourney begins tomorrow and while most golfers are skipping this tourney to prepare for the British Open....enter Wie. The field in this tourney is weak. (Almost like it is set up for her to do well this year??) With just one player ranked in the world's top 35 teeing it up this week. Especially considering that the one is Chris DiMarco at No. 22 in the world is easily fantasy golf's biggest bust so far in 2006. DiMarco has only played this event once in the last 10 years and doesn't have any top 10s.

So I say that this tourney will be the 'coming out party' for her and the one Wie will do well in and begin to live up to the talk of "the tiger woods of ladies golf." She may not win and she will make errors but I think she will make the cut and finish in the top 50. You may say she does not belong in a PGA event, that is why they started the LPGA but you can not ignore her talent.
What do ya'll think???
