USC Baseball Update

The University of South Carolina used its weekend series victory over Kentucky to climb in three college baseball polls today.

Meanwhile, USC's James Darnell was named one of Collegiate Baseball's Louisville Slugger national players of the week after hitting three home runs on Saturday.

The Gamecocks (19-7) won two of three over the nationally-ranked Wildcats and climbed from ninth to sixth in the USA TODAY/ESPN coaches poll, from 10th to sixth in the Collegiate Baseball poll and from 10th to ninth in the Baseball America rankings.

Arizona State remained No. 1 in all three polls.

Coastal Carolina dropped two spots in both the Baseball America (24th) and USA TODAY/ESPN (22nd) rankings. Clemson (18-9) did not crack the top 25 in any of the polls, but did receive enough votes to be 26th in the coaches poll if it extended that far.
USC beat The Citadel last night, plays host to Davidson Wednesday and is at Georgia over the weekend.
