Stephen Garcia, Tampa (Fla.) Jefferson High quarterback officially committed to South Carolina.

Rivals.com rates Garcia as the No. 57 overall prospect and the No. 3 dual-threat quarterback in the country. He is the 17th commitment for USC and the sixth four-star commitment.

Saw this......Garcia a four star prospect chose South Carolina over Florida, Ole Miss, Auburn, and Georgia. This past season Garcia threw for over 2,500 yards, and 29 touchdowns for the Jefferson Dragons.

Is this guy related to Penny???? They must go to the same barber....

Garcia said Spurrier was "a major factor" in his decision to pick USC, saying Ole Miss was a close second followed by Florida, Georgia, Alabama and Oklahoma.

"(When) I heard the rumors about him leaving to Alabama, Miami, I called him that day," Garcia said. "He told me that he's going nowhere. He wants to win the first SEC championship in South Carolina history and that he wants me to be apart of it. It's going to be very special working with him."

Garcia, who said he told Spurrier and recruiting coordinator David Reaves last week that he was going to commit to USC, said he hopes to graduate in December from Jefferson High School so he can enroll at USC in the spring and "get a head start and hopefully play next year or at least contribute."
