Gamecock Whitlock being dumb

Why cann't USC football players walk the straight and narrow? It seems like every year we go through this crap. Trust me I know kids will be kids but this is nuts b/c every year we gamecock fans have to go through this crap.

Latest victim....USC cornerback C.C. Whitlock has been suspended indefinitely for academic reasons and other issues, coaches said Thursday after practice.

Also a Ladi Ajiboye update ...

USC fullback dismissed

Not good for Dustyn McElroy even if it was self defense. This is his second altercation...

AJ to play basketball as well as football for the Gamecocks.

"Coach Horn said today that he has welcomed Alshon to play basketball if Coach Spurrier approves"  Any thoughts on AJ playing basketball for Carolina as well as football.  Do you think Coach Spurrier would allow a football player to hit the hardwoods?

Will Downey stay or go???

This is the question everyone who follows gamecock basketball is asking....

I think he will test the water but come back...I do hope I am right in him choosing to stay one more year as the 09-10 squad needs him and if he comes back he is the leading candidate for SEC POY.

USC loses Cherry

USC men's basketball coach Darrin Horn is losing his top assistant after one season at South Carolina. This has been rumored for a few weeks that Scott Cherry was going to end up at High Point. We here at LOHD wish him well.

Horn's remaining assistants are Cypheus Bunton and Mike Boynton. Neill Berry, a former WKU assistant, is USC's director of player development, and Robert Knotts is director of basketball operations.

USC loses out on Dendy

Seems South Carolina native Laron Dendy, former Greer High star, has decided to call Iowa State home and will become a cyclone. He was slated to go to Clemson out of high school then that did not work out and USC was rumored to be interested this last go around but that did not work out.

Granted he is 6-9 but I really don't think we wanted this type player...could be wrong but not sure how productive nor how much of a "student athlete" he is. Dendy, who began his high school career at Greer High, attended six schools in 17 months. Then after a long saga ended up at Indian Hills JC for basketball. Now he has decided to go to ISU. Kid has too much baggage.

Gamecocks get OG back on team

Spurrier said after practice Tuesday night former starting guard Heath Batchelor will be back in 2009. You may remember he left for some personal/medical reasons midway last year. Not sure all the history here but he has experience on the O line and that is a welcomed addition. I am sure he has lots of work to do and weight to gain but it helps with depth up front.

USC Baseball Wins vs CofC

Carolina improves to 15-6 on the year and I wish this out of conference success could translate to some SEC wins. This was a good win and Blake Cooper did a nice job as our bats were alive early. Let's hope it continues as the Gamecocks return home for a non-conference game with Georgia Southern on Wednesday night.

Stat of the day....South Carolina now has 40 homers on the year with home runs in 20 of 21 games played.

Gamecocks Get Back On Track With 14-2 Win At College of Charleston

I Trust Coach Horn is on top of this...

Seth Curry to transfer after one year at Liberty

I am sure the 1st year USC Men's basketball coach has already made a great case on why the University of South Carolina is the most logical next step for young Curry. The gamecocks could use that 20.2 scoring average.

One could only hope right....

Former USC QB loses in his Arena Debut

Former Gamecock QB Blake Mitchell lead the South Carolina Force to a loss in their first game versus the Fayetteville Guard. The Force had a chance as they trailed by only nine points at halftime, but two Mitchell interceptions and a lost fumble were quickly converted into 17 points for Fayetteville.

Mitchell finished 20-for-40 with 224 yards, two TDs and two interceptions.

The Force will return to action this coming Saturday, visiting the Reading (Penn.) Express.
