Movie Call for "Leatherheads"...

In the Upstate, 2007 will be known as the year of Clooney. There is a movie by Clooney being filmed in the Upstate called "Leatherheads."

In February, George Clooney starts filming his 1920s football movie in the Upstate. The movie, which stars Clooney, Renee Zellweger and John Krasinski, will be filmed in several Upstate locations. Expect to see Clooney and crew at some of the historical sites he scouted in October 06, including Anderson hotel the Calhoun and the Liberty building in downtown Greenville. Production will go through May, so the star-studded crew will be in town for roughly three months, which means your chances for spotting a noteable celeb are good. Locals have already had a chance to be a part of the movie - a December casting call for male Caucasian athletes. But there'll be another opportunity in January when they'll seek background performers. So get ready as the Upstate goes Hollywood and I am not talking about Dylan here.

Bracketology and SC Hoops

If the season ended today, South Carolina would just miss the NCAA tournament. At least according to ESPN's Joe Lunardi, a respected prognosticator of the field. Lunardi's first projected bracket since the start of the season appeared Wednesday on espn.com and can still be viewed on the site.

South Carolina was listed as the last of the "Next Four Out," meaning the Gamecocks are essentially the eighth team to miss out. Six SEC teams are in the projected field: Florida (a No. 1 seed), Alabama (No. 2), Tennessee (No. 4), Kentucky and LSU (No. 6 seeds) and Arkansas (No. 11).

As you know things will change a lot before March Madness gets here now that Conference plays begins for everyone. I am still hoping for USC to make it to the "dance" but only time will tell.

Next up No. 9 Kansas....should be a doozy...

The Bowl Season

Well the bowl season is winding down but we have seen some good ones. We have learned a lot so far, Michigan didn't deserve to play in then national championship game, a mid-major can play with the big boys, and ND is still a piece of shit. Well he is a clip from the Rose bowl last monday, did anybody else catch this.

A good season for USC to build on....

The bowl win provides enough momentum for USC to begin feeling good about itself heading into next season.

The Gamecocks have concluded the season 8-5 with three consecutive victories for only the fifth time in program history and registered eight or more wins in a season for only the eighth time.

Looking at '07, the Gamecocks have a wealth of defensive returnees (including 10 of 11 defensive starters), a good recruiting class coming in, a good O-line, a nice RB core and a quarterback in his third year in Spurrier's offense. The bad news for next year is the schedule which has been classified as "brutal." It has trips to Baton Rouge, Athens, Knoxville and Fayetteville, home games against Florida and Clemson, and a nonconference -road date with North Carolina.
With that being said what is ya'lls prediction for next year? Is a SEC Championship in the works? Will we get 10 wins? Let us know your thoughts...
