Coming Soon....Cold War Part II

I don't know about you but to me things are getting interesting with what is going on in Asia and mix in Venezuela, Cuba and Iran (Don't forget Iraq!), you get a messy foreign policy situation. I just had to write about this so pardon me while I size up the situation that the US faces since in 2006 this is a global economy.
We have Venezuela playing hardball (a leading oil producer in the world with a crazy leader) and creating alliances with other crazy led countries just in spite of the US policy towards these nations (known to be working with Cuba, Iran and N. Korea). Now we have N. Korea having their own fireworks display on the fourth with more to follow some say....all in hopes to get attention and incentives. Japan pleading for help to control this "red headed stepchild eager for attention." Russia and China not willing to "spank" N. Korea for the recent "outburst" and the US and UK not wanting to talk to N. Korea directly only through 6 way talks. I think there are too many ego's in this.....throw in Iran who is "thinking" over the incentive package to stop the nuclear arms race and we are setting up ourselves for a Cold War. Oh, did I mention that Taiwan is suppose to test fire a missile soon that technically can reach China (we know the history there) and meanwhile China has 800 missiles aimed at Taiwan, just waiting for the country to declare independence from China which is what they fought over in 1949....yet "One China," right? On that issue the US backs Taiwan and supplies their weapons/arms and God knows the US does not want to mess with China right now.

This is getting real messy from a foreign policy stand point and heading us to a Cold War Part II. Any thoughts?

The best part about the 4th of July isn’t going to the lake or beach to drink and catch some sun, but the Nathan’s International hot dog eating contest held every year on Coney Island, NY. Yesterday after drinking and laying by the pool, for a small part of the day, I ended up watching the replay of the contest. A new comer to the competitive eating word Joey Chestnut gave Kobayashi a run for his money. But in the end Kobayashi was to much. So as a solute to the great eaters of the world I only ate beef yesterday to celebrate the 4th. I had smoked beef brisket for breakfast, hamburger for lunch and a steak for dinner, and now I am going thru some kind of red meat withdrawals since my last hit of beef. Kobayashi set a new world record yesterday with 54 hot dogs, so I want to know how many hot dogs you think you can eat in 12 minutes. I am going to guestimate that I can probably put down some where between 10 and 15.

Happy 4th....

Happy 4th of July to the readership.....Also here is the Bumper sticker (acutal sticker) that helps to put today in perspective:

"If you can read this, thank a teacher -- and, since it's in English, thank a soldier"

6 Thoughts to Ponder on Today...

Today, we will post 6 thoughts for you to ponder on.....and feel free to write back on these thoughts.

1. How come we choose from just two people to run for president and over fifty for Miss America?
2. A good friend will come and bail you out of jail...but, a true friend will be sitting next to you saying, "Wow...that was fun!"
3. Don't argue with an idiot; people watching may not be able to tell the difference.
4. Wouldn't it be nice if whenever we messed up our life we could simply press 'Ctrl Alt Delete' and start all over?
5. Why is it that children can't read a Bible in school, but they can in prison?
6. Why do I have to swear on the Bible in court when the Ten Commandments cannot be displayed outside?

Things that make you go hmmmmm....
