Does your face need some cleaning up???!!!

I understand some of us look better with beards. Some of our faces are shaped so that a well-kept beard has a very distinguished and refined look. I too have grown the occasional winter vacation beard or have gone a few days without shaving. That being said, I do not oppose a guy with a beard. I have a buddy who has not had a clean shaven face since 1996. I have also seen pictures of he without a beard and realize there is a reason he has a beard. Hank Williams, Jr. has had beard ever since an accident where his face was torn off. And come on, Santa Claus without a beard is like lamb with no tuna fish. Now, I do believe if one is to grow a beard, he needs to keep it under check. Once a week, a good trimming is necessary to keep growth under control.

In addition to trimming, edging is even more important. Keeping a clean-shaven straight line above the adam's apple is very important in keeping a neat, well-kept look. One would also want to keep a trimmed edge along the cheek bone. Phillips Norelco makes a great product that is inexpensive and will do the job in maintaining a beard. Go buy one, put it to use and your lady friend will be much appreciative.

10th Game for USC and Clemson will be wins

Here is their prediction for both schools in game 10 -
http://www.charleston.net/news/2008/jul/18/clemson_fans_can_breathe_sigh_relief47917/

After 10 games---Clemson is 8-2 and Univ of South Carolina sits at 8-2.

Recruit makes verbal commitment to USC

The University of South Carolina picked up a wide receiver verbal commitment from Camden County star DeAngelo Smith on Thursday. Smith a 6 foot 2, 185 pound senior chose USC over Florida, Illinois, UGA and Indiana. His high school coach said he has a ton of upside, good speed and the ability to run crisp routes.
We look forward to seeing you on the field.

Go Cocks!

No Grease for Captain Munnerlyn

On The State's website there is this article...here....and we could not help but laugh when we read this......
Spurrier and his staff were tied in knots this past season trying to figure out why Captain Munnerlyn seemed to cramp up late in games. Unable to put a finger on it, they decided to ship him to Chicago this summer for a full workup.
The verdict: Grease.
“Embarrassing to say, we as coaches have not taught him how to eat properly,” Spurrier said. “They checked him out and said, “You need to stop eating fried food all the time.’“Hopefully Captain will eat the way we ask him to eat.”

So there you have it folks....no more grease-y food for Captain and no more trips to Church's Chicken and Mrs. Peachez will not be happy to hear this!

Gamecock coach lands his first commitment

Today it was confirmed that South Carolina Men's Hoops Coach Darrin Horn landed the first commitment of his tenure as the University of South Carolina men's basketball coach.

Lakeem Jackson, a 6-foot-5, 215-pound swingman from Arden, N.C., has committed to USC over Clemson University, Marquette, Georgia Tech and Western Kentucky. Jackson, who will be part of Horn's 2009 recruiting class, averaged 15 points, seven rebounds and three assists this past season.

Anybody heard anything on this kid? Well it is good to see Horn working the recruiting circuit and keep reeling them in!

Notes from Steve Spurrier's Press Conference Today

South Carolina head football coach Steve Spurrier met with the media today and here are highlights from his discussion with the media. For a full briefing go here.

Extracted comments Spurrier made that LOHD deems worthy of repeating -
  • Tommy Beecher right now is getting his shot to be the lead QB in the Spurrier system. Nothing news worthy here as Gamecock nation truly is waiting to see what August 15th brings. That is the day Garcia is eligible to come back....
  • Spurrier is the play caller and offensive coordinator; even plans to spend more time with the quarterbacks and offense....that ends that story.
  • "Dusty Lindsey is ready to go," which is good news for the linebacking core of the defense.
  • I will end with his reflect on building of the USC program; gotta love how he speaks the truth, no sugar coating ---

"We knew there was some building to do.........We have got a good nucleus of young players; we are still not a whole bunch of seniors. We have had five guys drafted in the last three years. Did you know that? So we are not going to win a lot of SEC (Championships) with one or two guys drafted every year...........We didn't have that big recruiting class until the third (class) and that was because we won our last three games. That was certainly helpful. We didn't win our last three last year. Lost a bunch of them at the end there. That's just the way it happened. We are where we are but we can get out of it. We can get out of it with a little better coaching and a little bit better play. We can get out of it." "We know why we lost a lot of games. We will try our best as coaches to show how we lost a lot of games. It wasn't all the players fault. It's coaches, me, some other guys, if we would have made some better calls, taught this defense or that run play a little bit better, but it happened and there is nothing we can do about it instead try to learn why and hopefully we can show our guys why we failed in some of those close games. We'll try to do that."

Game 9 predictions - USC beats Tennessee / FSU stuns Clemson

The Charleston Post and Courier gets bold in their predictions for Game 9 for the Gamecocks and for the Tigers. They have the Gamecocks beating Tennessee (which LOHD agrees with) and the Klempson Tigers losing a heartbreaker to FSU. Wow...thoughts?

Here is their prediction for both schools in game 9-http://www.charleston.net/news/2008/jul/17/gamecocks_should_be_able_topple_vols47802/

So after 9 games 'post & courier' predictions will have Clemson sitting at 7-2 and Univ of South Carolina sitting at 7-2. If this holds to be true then Tommy is on the hot seat after 9 games.

Baby Bowden facing the question

Can the Clemson Tigers do it in '08?
Charleston's news outlet has a little sit down with Tommy B about that very subject....click here for full article.

Again it is of the opinion of the LOHD writers that Clemson will again take what we feel is a highly talented team and find a way to lose. Tommy is a coach much like Holtz - plays not to lose rather than plays to win. If you know college football then you know what I mean by that statement. It is what Clemson football, in the last 10 years, is known for - losing games they are suppose to win and choking rather than stepping up to win. ACC is weak, CU has a cake schedule so why won't the stars align in 08? LOHD puts the blame squarely at the feet of Bowden.

Our pal at the Garnet & Black website found this article that says basically the same thing...that for Tommy it is time to "put up or shut up."

Gamecocks and Clemson predicted to lose Game 8

Interesting predictions from the Charleston Post and Courier in their Game 8 predictions for USC and Clemson. Much like the guy in the clemson shirt grabbing his friend's nipple...interesting.

The crystal ball down in Charleston is showing that Clemson will lose a nail-bitter to Boston College and that LSU will win again versus USC. Do you agree?

Here is their prediction for both schools in game 8-http://www.charleston.net/news/2008/jul/15/bc_continues_frustrate_tigers47648/

So after 8 games these predictions will have Clemson sitting at 7-1 and Univ of South Carolina sitting at 6-2.

Bless his heart...

Is what my mother would say! Let me explain, when people would say or do things that were stupid or she did not agree with my mother would say this. She also would say those three words to avoid saying something bad about a person, so my mother would say in response to the article below - "bless his heart."

LOHD has already shared that we truly do not like Bart Wright and his writings with the orange love fest all over it.....here is his latest writing in the Greenville News -
LOHD would ask that you read the following in response to Mr. Wright as we will let prior writings explain our thoughts - HERE and HERE and HERE and HERE and HERE - as this is reality!
