Well as most of us Carolina fans know, they are build just about every type of high rise housing they can think of around Williams Brice stadium here in Columbia. The Spur, Carolina Walk and the Village lofts will all be completed before the 2006 football season (or are suppose to be) bringing in millions of dollars for the city. Most of the condo’s have already been sold for hundreds of thousands of dollars, but my question is where do the middle class fans who can’t afford a 500,000 dollar condo just for tailgating go? Which the university losing the fair grounds in 2010, and the sheriffs lot being redeveloped for high end tailgating. If the university was smart they would have grabbed up that land years ago when it was just the stadium out there and then sold it off to investors and developers to pay for all this innovative new buildings and dorms for the football team. Last time I checked there was a NCAA rule that says the athletic teams have to be in the general population of the university. So just think one day we will be tailgating at the end of Olympia and the other end of Bluff road.

The real malt liquor

If you are a malt liquor drinking like I know some of you are. You need to try the real deal. It might taste like piss but it has 9% alcohol. So if you have a buck and a night to kill with some crap malt liquor then run to the store and grab a Camo. Camo is the real hardcore rappers drinks, it makes colt 45 look like Kool-Aid. I am just saying if I was rapper and I had a song it would be about drinking Camo and hitting some bitches while ridding around on my mo-pad.

The joys of drinking

What is your cure for a hang over? Some people think a Diet Coke and groucho’s cures all or maybe coffee and two Advil or how about a Diet Mountain Dew and hot fries. I want to know what makes that next day livable, after a long night of drink, playing caps, beer pong or drinking games. In college I would rely on a GIMP breakfast and a day of watching tv to do the trick. Now I prefer either Chinese or taco bell and a day of laying on the couch while Kat bitches at me for laying on the couch all day. When this happens you must take 4 Advil and hope that the head ache is louder then her. When we lived on Juarez Street, the whole house would indulge in Yum Yum Chinese buffet for a cure. For the real alcoholic drinking a beer will do the trick, or maybe a Bloody Mary. So give me your answer for the hang over?

June 28th is Carolina Day or at least it should be...

I saw this article in the Greenville News today. It is discussing the creation of a "Carolina Day" by Walter Edgar, the man who wrote that big thick blue book on SC History. (Which everyone should at least skim through...great book) Read the article if you like but the jist of it is that it is promoting the creation of "Carolina Day" on June 28th. Why that day, well....here are the high points from the article.

"On June 28, 1776, South Carolina military forces triumphed over both the Royal Navy and the British Army at the Battle of Sullivan's Island. This signal event was acknowledged by the Continental Congress with a silver medal, and the symbols associated with that glorious victory are present in our state seal and on our state flag. "

"For many years after the battle, South Carolinians observed Palmetto Day on June 28. It was their special holiday. It was a tribute to the patriots of 1776 who fought and died for American and South Carolina freedom. "

"Each year, in Charleston, York and a few other places, concerned Carolinians observe "Carolina Day" on June 28. However, the observation is not statewide -- as it once was and as it should be again. Isn't it time that we as a state reclaimed our rightful place in history? Cannot we let the rest of the country know that there's more to the American Revolution than the skirmishes in Massachusetts? "

I say let's make this a state holiday....

Where's da beer?

Is what many are asking who attend the World Cup....saw this article today and thought it was worthy of a post. This is a lot of beer drinking going on.....I made bold some interesting statements. Crazyness....

"England's massive army of World Cup fans is drinking Germany dry, it emerged yesterday.
Breweries warned beer could run out before the final because of huge demand from our supporters.

In Nuremberg, organisers revealed 70,000 England fans who flooded the city drank 1.2MILLION pints of beer - an average of 17 pints each.

Astonished bar keeper Herrmann Murr said: "Never have I seen so many drink so much in such little time."
His bar at a fans' tent in the city ran out after they drained all 32 of his 50-litre (11 gallon) barrels.

Herr Murr calculated Britons were shifting beer at a staggering rate of 200 pints per minute.

City official Peter Murrmann said: "The English proved themselves world champs. They practically drank us dry."

In Cologne, where England drew with Sweden, bottles and barrels of the local Kolsch beer ran out because so many English took them to campsites and parties. Stuttgart bar chiefs said an extra 900,000 pints were sunk last weekend where 60,000 fans partied before and after our 1-0 win over Ecuador. The Veltins brewery also revealed it has produced a record 418,000 gallons in a bid to keep up with demand. A spokesman said: "It is incredible how much is being drunk but the hardest thing for the breweries is keeping up with the thirst of the English."

In Dortmund, where most fans for England's Gelsenkirchen clash against Portugal on Saturday are staying, the giant DAB brewery is bracing itself by ferrying in extra supplies to boost production." Article can be found at www.mirror.co.uk

Calm Down Spurrier

I know we still have almost 2 months and a week till football season starts but I can’t wait till football season to start talking about football season. So with that said we are about 4 weeks out from the Gamecocks reporting for fall works out, and this summer has been nothing but Spurrier bitching about the program. If it is not about money then it is about how the players have no motivation. Gamecockcentral.com has been buzzing about Chris Smelley reporting to Carolina this week; Spurrier had only good things to say about his incoming freshman as he toured the state, meeting with Gamecock club members this spring. As a special treat to Left-Over-Hot-Dog, I am bring in a football analyst who will go over the gamecock season, as well as predictions, key players and comments that will help you with all of your preseason questions.

Changing subjects, tonight OSU plays North Carolina for the final game of the college baseball season. UNC won the first game but came up short last night 11 -7. I saw on a website some quotes about Omaha and the college world series. One quote that I thought sounded pretty accurate was “The College World Series turns a small patch of Omaha, Nebraska, into one part Bonnaroo and one part South Padre with a splash of Talladega thrown in for good measure.” I have never been but next year if Carolina turns out to be as good as I am predicting then I say we go. Here is a did u know from me, Zesto’s is a local ice cream and Hamburger joint located is Omaha, what about the Zesto’s here in Columbia, I always thought that the original location was in triangle city.
