How about some poll questions

JR requested some trivia questions, but I don’t have time to research questions so I will provide some friendly poll questions.

What % does Clemson have of winning this weekend in Chapel Hill?

Name your favorite gamecock basketball player from when you were in college?

Favorite Fred Savage movie?

Favorite quote from a movie from the 90’s?

How this helps your Friday boredom JR>

Signing day...

Clemson is eating our lunch but I trust USC knows what they are doing, right?

“I’m a little surprised, to be honest with you, that South Carolina is struggling as much as they are,” said Jamie Newberg, national recruiting analyst for scout.com.

I agree with ya Newberg but then again we have a some coaching changes, a 6-6 season and a vacation at home over the holidays while 60+ teams were having some bowl fun.

Yes, at the end of the day - Clemson will end up with a highly rated recruiting class. Big whoop, I say and we had a top 5 class last year (according to ESPN). And one thing the papers and critics are not saying is the facts. Here's the breakdown of team recruiting rankings (rivals.com) since 2002

  • USC: #11, #8, #35 , #23, #24, #6

Average = #18

  • Clemson: #22, #67, #53, #17, #15, #16

Average = #32

What I do find odd however is this: Clemson is actually recruiting better against Spurrier than they did against Holtz. USC's rankings haven't changed that much from one coach to the next. Pretty much the same pattern through the Holtz and Spurrier eras so far. But ever since Spurrier arrived in Columbia, Clemson has been doing much better. This will be the 3rd time in Spurrier's 4 recruiting seasons that Tommy has signed a higher rated class even though they struggled mightily a few years when Holtz was their primary recruiting opposition. I wouldn't have guessed it would turn out that way back in November of 2004. What are they selling?

Well no Streeter but the Class USC is putting together is hopefully going to stay within the Top 25 (thanks to Sutton).

I know there is more to it than rankings and I only hope that Spurrier & Co know what they are doing.

Why isn't a single member of the Top 100 prospects list put out by recruiting website Rivals.com coming to USC?

Hitler talking about the Gamecocks...

Simply a great video! And boy do we know how he feels....

The University of South Carolina shares fourth in the rankings with Rice. Clemson is No. 19.

Polls from Baseball America, Collegiate Baseball, National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association, Rivals.com and USA Today Weekly were included in the compilation.

USC strikes a $50 million dollar deal

USC intends to enter into a new $50.57 million, nine-year contract with ISP Sports, the current rights holders, for the multi-media and advertising rights to Gamecocks athletics, including radio broadcasts of football, basketball and baseball games and various coaches' shows, according to Gamecockcentral.

The new deal will become effective on July 1, 2008, and will run through June 30, 2017. The average payout per year is $5.62 million, a 150 percent increase over the current five-year, $11 million deal.

Seems the General was right when he reported about the "Gamecock Value;" and with this new deal --- it just when up, so I am sure parking, ticket prices, gamecock club dues will continue to go up also....who said college sports is not a business?

back on track

Is the Gamecock basketball team back on track or is this just an illusion? Look at the ole miss fans in the background, how awesome is that.

it all comes down to this

Well now that football is over, except for the pro bowl. I figured I would give you some entertaining songs written by Ryan Parker.

Just want to congratulation Billy for winning the wing eating contest during the super bowl, taking down 40 wings. I wasn’t the biggest let down of the night (patriots) , but I was a close 2nd, only eating 20 wings.

Eli & Crew Win

What was a closer game than I ever expected it to be, the New York Giants shut down the New England Patriots offense to win the 42nd Super Bowl Game by the score of 17-14.

USC Wins in Oxford

The Gamecocks (11-10, 3-4) managed to escape Oxford with a 80-77 win. It gives USC its' first back-to-back Southeastern Conference victories for the first time in more than a year by upsetting the Rebels (16-4, 3-4). Oh and Ole Miss was #24 so it is extra sweet for the team b/c let's be honest it has been a while.

The game broke Ole Miss' 17-game home winning streak dating back to last season. It is also the first time SC has ever won in Oxford. Thank you Dominique Archie for the late 3 pointer to take the lead with 6 seconds!
