100 hours

As of 3:00 p.m. EDT today, we can now stop counting down days to kickoff and begin counting hours. There are now 100 hours left until South Carolina kicks off. I'll do some sort of preview later this week of the U-La-La game.

Also, breaking news, even though Ole Miss doesn't believe reading is fundamental, the NCAA takes a different stance. Highly touted defensive tackle recruit Jerrell Powe has been ruled ineligible for the 2007 season, ostensibly for being dumb. The NCAA more delicately described their rationale: “Mr. Powe has not achieved sufficient academic success." Another more popular theory was most eloquently stated by Jerrell's mom some weeks back: "Jerrell is a really good child but he just can't read."

Despite being unable to read and unacceptable by the NCAA's standards, Ole Miss will still allow Jerrell to take classes. Maybe that's why hoddy toddy is so popular in Oxford. Illiteracy cannot touch made-up words.
