Another year of this...

The 2007 Mic Man is Brent McCraw, a senior Hospitality, Retail and Tourism Management major from Columbia.

I was hoping they would do away with this but oh no. Thoughts on his role? Again, I feel this is something that USC should discontinue. Many fans just can not stand to hear Mic Man beg for cheers and it is funny to talk to visiting fans and they ask "what is up with that guy?"

Should USC do away with Mic Man or has this become a "tradition" at Carolina?

I'm with you ... this is one tradition that should have never started. Example of a good tradition - The President of Tulane University sits at the 50 yard line on the front row in the middle of the student section to cheer on the Green Wave. He has been reported to even paint his face for games!

It would be an awesome tradition if the guy yelled "Who ya Whit?"

A pair of former South Carolina defensive players have landed at Georgia Southern.

Linebacker Dakota Walker and defensive end Kerry Bonds joined the Division I-AA Eagles this week, team spokesman Patrick Osterman said today. Both will be eligible to play immediately, according to Osterman.

Walker, a junior from Mays Landing, N.J., appeared in 11 games in 2006 and had his only career start against Florida Atlantic. Walker preserved a 27-20 victory against Wofford when he batted a pass that was intercepted after the Terriers had driven to the USC 10-yard line with 29 seconds remaining.

Walker was one of two players sent home from Memphis last year prior to the Liberty Bowl for violating university policy. He is the 11th member of Steve Spurrier’s first USC recruiting class no longer in the program.

Bonds, a redshirt sophomore from Tallahassee, Fla., was kicked off the Gamecocks’ team last October after choking a female student in the dormitory where the majority of the players live. Walker was listed as one of two witnesses to the incident, according to the police report.

Bonds was charged with assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature. Osterman said Georgia Southern coach Chris Hatcher spoke to the Gamecocks’ coaching staff and law enforcement officials in South Carolina before accepting Bonds as a transfer.
