USC needs a 'W' tonight.....badly.....

Big game tonight for all you Gamecock 'faithful' out there....LSU vs. USC ! This is a big game for USC, 14-13 and 5-9 in the SEC, as they will host No. 24 LSU, 20-7 and 12-2 in the SEC, in its final home game of the season on Tues., Feb. 28 at 7 pm. The home team has won the last four match-ups between the two teams, with USC also defeating LSU in the first round of the 2004 SEC Tournament (85-64). USC is 2-0 vs. the SEC Western Division at home this season and 0-2 vs. the same side on the road. USC has lost three straight, including its second straight one point loss, falling 56-57 to Vanderbilt on Feb. 25. USC is 6-5 following a loss.

USC has had 14 games decided by seven points or less, posting a 5-9 record - including nine of those being SEC games (USC is 3-6 in those games). USC has had six games this season decided by three points or less, including three in a row earlier in the season - UGA (61-64), at Vandy (66-64) and at UK (78-80). Three of the six games that were decided by three points or less went to OT. Each of USC's first six SEC games were decided by seven points or less and nine total have been decided by the same tally.

Besides all of that the Gamecocks need a win bad heading into the SEC Tourney and need a win to prove something to the NIT selection Cmte because we all know that the NCAA tourney is out of the question unless by the grace of God we win the SEC tourney.......and some are getting tired of ole' Davey as the coach.....he needs a win badly!!!

Well after watching the game from behind the LSU Bench, LSU was just a better team. We played a great game and Dave knows how to coach a team up, but the pure talent curve is where we get killed. Between LSU’s three big name players we had no body to match up with. We even played a couple players last night that have never seen the floor before, just to lean on Glen Davis. It is going to be a long off-season for ole Dave.

Glen Davis is listed at 6-9 310 lbs, that is like 5x the size of brandon Wallace

I would like to see Dave run some other kind of man offense. It is either hedge or flex. The hedge is ok if we are hitting some deep shots, but overall this is the same stuff that is ran in highschool. When I was in highschool we ran something into what became the flex, Carolina just runs straight down the court into the flex. Carolina was out coached and outplayed. One question, where was Balkman most of the Game?

Well to run a more high/low offense we have to have skilled post players. Balkman has the potential to be a decent post player but lacks the skill of playing with his back to the basket. The only advantage to running the flex/ guard play offensive base skims is that the bigger SEC schools, Kentucky/Miss St/ LSU and Alabama have a harder time defending the smaller/quicker post players on the outside. There have been many times I thought Brandon Wallace should have taken Glen Davis off the dribble and gone to the hole.

Balkman was signing autographs for his new found fan club during most of the game and working on a new t-shirt design for the students...

I thought the Tie Dyed tee shirts were a nice touch to the student fan base. Most of the kids were dressed like crazy people any way.
