South Carolina guard Devan Downey to test NBA water

South Carolina guard Devan Downey has decided to put his name in the NBA draft but not hire an agent, the team announced on Tuesday....more HERE.

Not a real surprise as LOHD thought he would explore this opportunity. Heck, if I was in his shoes I would do the same thing. He would be dumb not to after a great season but also feel he needs one more collegiate season under his belt to prove the skeptics wrong.

I feel strongly than he will entertain this but come back to play the 09-10 season...thoughts?

Gamecock OG hurt

Senior Lem Jeanpierre, who figured to be in the mix to start at one of the guard spots, will miss the remainder of spring practice because of a right knee injury, according to reports from Coach Spurrier from yesterday.

Jeanpierre had started five games each of the past two seasons. An injury to the same knee cost the converted defensive tackle the second half of last season. He should be back to in time for 2-a-days so he can still be a factor in the fall but this does not help things up front.

Beamer tees it up at Augusta and finishes par for his round

It has been reported that Gamecock Coach Shane Beamer played Augusta National this past weekend and shot par for his round! Lucky bastard! Not for his score but he got to play Augusta.

The catch is he only played one hole - the difficult par-4 10th - then lighting came in and the round was stopped before they could continue. Great job Shane now get back to work!

Horn misses out on Curry

Not sure we had a shot or even if Coach Horn called the kid but I was still hoping we could shock the nation and land Curry. Oh well....

Seth Curry to transfer from Liberty to Duke

Former Gamecock Boyd waived

The Denver Broncos waived former University of South Carolina RB Cory Boyd.

Boyd had been on the practice squad and then got on the active roster but never really got a chance to do anything late in 2008. He made his NFL debut in the Broncos' season finale at San Diego but did not have a touch.
