Month of Basketball

Well as March madness draws near the excitement of conference tournaments begin, we have already seen Winthrop win the Big South Conference in exciting fashion as well as a cheerleader falling and breaking her neck at the Southern Illinois game. Yesterday Gonzaga had to come from 15 down to beat a 12-17 Loyola Marymount team for the WCC championship game. With all that said and done now all Winthrop and most of these mid major teams have to wait for are the power house team they will have to play in the first round of the tourney. Winthrop is slated to play UNC in the first round as of right now, before the ACC tourney has even begun. Here are my picks for number 1 seeds, please feel free to discuss.

East
U-Conn
UNC (if they make it to the ACC championship)

West
1. Memphis
2. Ohio State

South
1.Duke
2. Illinois

Mid-West
1.Villonova
2. Texas

I agree with you Ritch about LSU or maybe even Tenn as a # 2 seed if they can make it out of the SEC tourny as champs. I think Gonzaga is more of a 3 seed, even if they are ranked really high. They played a pretty hard no conf. schedule but there they also played like crap at the end of the season against teams with losing records like in the WCC tourny with SD and LMU

All a team will have to do to stop Gonzaga is be more athletic on the boards and run a box in 1 on Morrision. LMU the other night did a good job of shutting him down, they just could put the ball in the basket when they really need it.
